The first Louisiana Craft Brewers Week is fast approaching, and most of the local craft breweries will be sending some one off beers to many events that week of September 23rd through 29th. It all kicks off September 22nd at The Avenue Pub in New Orleans with a jambalaya dinner from the Knott Brothers. They’ll be featuring a couple of new brews in Hop-Olousas IPA and their whiskey barrel aged honey beer, Miel Savauge.
The events continue all week long at restaurants and bars all around the state. I’ve compiled a list by brewery of events during LCBW, so hopefully this can be your one stop resource for supporting Louisiana’s craft breweries. I’ll be sure to update it as I gather more information.
I encourage you to support Louisiana’s craft breweries by attending one or more of these events. If you can’t make it to one, show your support by drinking only beer brewed in Louisiana that week. All of these breweries contribute to our state’s economy and employ our friends and neighbors. It’s great that they will be recognized for what they do that week.

OLD RAIL BREWING
Old Rail Oktoberfest will debut on September 20th. They used Vienna malt for the base with a touch of Munich. The result is a rich, malty, soft, and clean classic fest bier. It weighs in at around 5% ABV.
Thursday September 26th for Louisiana Craft Beer Week we will release our Belgian Blonde Ale. We are still working on the name. This ale was brewed with Pilsner Malt as the base with the addition of some Munich and Aromatic Malt. American hops for bittering and German Noble to finish. Expect notes of spice, fruit and bubblegum, and a bit of honey sweetness in the finish. The with all the esters and phenolics the flavor is pleasantly bold and complex. The abv comes in around 6.9%.
September 24th – 7 p.m. – Niche Restaurant is proud to announce they will be the first restaurant in Baton Rouge to serve Dr. Hoptagon, a limited offering from Parish Brewing Company. The beer, a double black IPA, is in limited supply and highlighted as a part of the inaugural Louisiana Craft Brewers Week. Dr. Hoptagon will be available for one night only at Niche Restaurant on Seigen Lane.
Dr. Hoptagon, a double black IPA, is the latest concoction from Parish’s Broussard, Louisiana, brewery. It’s described by the brewery as pleasantly offensive and bursting with bitter hops and black roasted malts. Parish has brewed a limited amount of the beer to be distributed in both draft and bottle form until it’s gone. Parish Brewing’s owner and founder, Andrew Godley, says, “[Dr. Hoptagon] might be the best beer we’ve made to date.”
IPA lovers are eagerly awaiting a first taste of Dr. Hoptagon. Local food and drink bloggers, beer aficionados and more will be on hand to taste the beer and report on it to their followers. Joining the crowd will be local food and drink personalities, Jay Ducote of the Bite and Booze blog and radio show (Talk 107.3 FM, Saturdays at 5 p.m.) and Chuck Pierce of Me and My Big Mouth podcast/radio show (WHYR 96.9 FM, Fridays at 6 p.m.). Both will be recording segments for their shows live on the night of the event.
TIN ROOF BREWING
Baton Rouge Events
The Bulldog- Thursday September 26th at 6pm
Cask Conditioned Tin Roof Blonde Dry Hopped with 1.5oz of Citra Hops.
Pelican House- Friday September 27th at 6pm
Chili Pepper Blonde ale (Blonde Sugar Sex Magic- description credit to Alex Daigrepont)
Like the band, this wild spice beer, smells strong, but is subtle to the taste; the chilies are a compliment to the malt character, and citrus hops of our blonde ale. It smells strong but taste balanced. You should notice a nice pepper pull in the back of the throat that makes you want to take another sip. Aged on Thai Chilies, this blonde won’t give you the belly burn most spice beers do. Our Brewer loves it so much he wishes he could Give It Away, I Could Have Lied but you don’t have to drink it Under the Bridge, of course IF YOU HAVE TO ASK, ask for a Blonde Sugar Sex Magic
Wednesday– The Chimes East
