Ballast Point plans to enter Louisiana in 2014

26 Jul

Yesterday, I heard a rumor that San Diego’s Ballast Point Brewing has plans to enter Louisiana in early 2014. That was confirmed today by VP of Sales/Marketing Earl Kight. Of course we all know how plans go, so we won’t know for sure until they sign contracts with distributors and make it official. But it’s good news to hear that another craft brewery is planning to enter the Louisiana market, and that this state is becoming more and more attractive to these types of breweries.

Ballast Point’s Sculpin IPA and Victory at Sea coffee vanilla porter both are rated a 98 out of 100 on Beer Advocate. Their Big Eye IPA, Dorado Double IPA and Sea Monster imperial stout are also rated highly. I’ll be excited to have them available.

Is this still going to happen?

Your guess is as good as mine, Jonathan. I heard as recently as mid-July from the National Account Manager that Ballast Point would be in Louisiana in September. Well, here we are in September, and nothing. I actually reached out yesterday, but haven’t heard anything from him. I’ll let you know as soon as I hear anything.

Jonathan, this is happening very, very soon. Haven’t been given the OK to say anything publicly, but contracts were on desks to be signed as of my last update a couple weeks ago.

Yes, the first of it should start hitting shelves in 2 weeks or so.
