What follows is the July 17th edition of my weekly column written for DIG Magazine.
There are times when one has to choose between a beer and a dessert. But, thanks to Southern Tier’s newest beer to enter the Louisiana market, you no longer have to make that tough decision.
Crème Brûlée is a stout brewed with vanilla beans – a lot of vanilla beans. While this beer pours dark, it is definitely not your typical stout. The aroma practically hits you from across the room. The big vanilla nose on this is something that everyone, even non-beer lovers, can enjoy. The taste follows suit, with a sweet and creamy flavor that is reminiscent of the custard dish.
This full-bodied beer is best split with a companion, due to its sweet and rich nature. Enjoy it paired with cheesecake, bananas Foster, or vanilla ice cream. Or skip the dessert altogether and make Southern Tier’s Crème Brûlée your own dessert.
Find Southern Tier Crème Brûlée on tap at Chimes East and the Cove, or in 22 ounce bottles at Calandro’s, Matherne’s and Cuban Liquor for $9-10.
