Later this spring, Houston craft brewery, Saint Arnold, will release a special beer to help raise funds for Operation Homefront. Saint Arnold will be one of six craft breweries that will participate in “Hops for Heroes,” which will help raise funds to support wounded warriors and their families. Hops for Heroes is the brainchild of major league pitcher Chris Ray, who is currently in the Cleveland Indians organization, and Fremont Brewing Company.
The other five breweries who will participate are Cigar City (Tampa, FL), 21st Amendment (San Francisco, CA), Sly Fox (Phoenixville, PA), Perinniel Artisan Ales (St. Louis, MO) and Fremont Brewing Company (Seattle, WA).
One really interesting thing about this beer is that it will be aged on wooden bats donated by Louisville Slugger.
I’m looking forward to giving this a try when it’s released in late spring/early summer.
